· The Topsfield Rail Trail is approximately 4 miles long. It goes from the Wenham to the Boxford town line. · The southern half (from Summer St.) of the trail is owned by the MBTA. The northern half is owned by MassElectric (NationalGrid). In the middle, from Summer St. to Washington St., the Town of Topsfield has a use license. Parking lots were built by Topsfield Crossing and across from St. Rose Church. · In Topsfield center, at the corner of Main and Grove St. the MBTA sold a triangular piece of land which includes a railroad freight barn to a private invester. Through the middle of the property the MBTA placed easement in the deed for the TLC.. · The NationalGrid portion from Washington St. to the Boxford town line connects directly with Pye Brook Community Park. · The TLC is now passable in it’s entirety from the Wenham to Boxford town lines. In the springtime we hope to get permission from National Grid to continue the mowing. |
